Tips for a healthy pregnancy

Tips for pregnant women to have a healthy pregnancy : 

-Maintain healthy lifestyle

- Balanced healthy diet rich in proteins, calcium and iron

- Avoid processed/junk food- have preservatives and chemicals which may not be good for baby's development.

- Avoid fish(those with high mercury and undercooked fish) 

- Avoid raw eggs
- Abstain from smoking and alcohol

- Keep caffeine intake to a minimum( not more than 2 cups a day, avoid completely if possible. Remember, aerated drinks/ colas also have caffeine, apart from tea / coffee. 

- Take folic acid supplements in the first trimester - essential for development of spine and nervous system of baby.

- Visit your Gynecologist regularly: screen for risk factors which may need additional care, prescribe supplements 

- Practice yoga, meditation

- Make sure you receive the requisite vaccination in pregnancy

-Remain physically active, unless a complication which contradicts this
